Drive-in movie set for Saturday night

The city of Dawsonville's Downtown Development Authority and Dawson County Parks and Recreation invites the community and all the visitors in town this weekend to a free drive-in movie Saturday in the lower parking lot of the Dawson County Government Center.

"We'll be showing Ice Age 4 and we'd love for everyone to come out, bring their chairs and blankets or enjoy this family friendly movie from their cars," said City Councilman Chris Gaines.

The movie, which will be shown on an inflatable screen, starts at dark and will be broadcast through a local FM radio transmitter.

The idea for a downtown movie night originated several months ago during a downtown revitalization meeting.

"It worked out that we were able to have it during the festival when we have not only our community here with us, but also the vendors and visitors that are here for the festival," Gaines said.

Concessions will be available during the movie.
