Dawson County residents are invited to safely dispose of unused medications at one of three specified locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will be held at Kroger, CVS and city hall.

According to a news release from Dawson Against Substance Abuse, the service is “free, anonymous and no questions asked.”

A study by the Partnership for a Drug Free America stated that each day, about 2,500 teens use prescription drugs “to get high for the first time.”

Many of the drugs are found in the home medicine cabinet, according to the study.

The event is sponsored locally by Dawson Against Substance Abuse, Dawson Woman’s Club, Etowah Water and Sewer Authority and United Community Bank.
