Mike Berlon, the new chairman of the Georgia Democratic Party, will be the featured speaker at the next meeting of the Dawson County Democrats at 6 p.m. June 16 at the Dawson County Public Library.

Mike Berlon has been involved in Democratic politics for more than three decades. During his 30 years of political engagement, he has been a candidate for office, recruited and worked with candidates in both local and statewide campaigns, sponsored many fundraisers and promoted Democratic ideals.

Most recently, Berlon served as Carol Porter's campaign manager for lieutenant governor. As the immediate past president of the Georgia Association of Democratic County Chairs, he's seen first-hand the challenges facing county parties.

Berlon earned an undergraduate degree in political science and a law degree from Georgia State University. He is currently a practicing attorney in Lawrenceville.

Berlon's vision of the party is to empower each county party to operate independently - give each county the tools to succeed and allow each county to make it happen in its own way.

The public is invited to attend.
