A Forsyth County woman with a Dawsonville address was killed in a head-on collision in north Forsyth on Wednesday morning.

Barbara Morgan Fowler, 71, was killed after a 2001 Toyota Sequoia traveling east on Jot Em Down Road allegedly crossed over the center line and struck her Honda CRV traveling west on the road, according to Cpl. Doug Rainwater of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Rainwater said that the force of impact from the collision took the vehicles off the roadway and into a nearby yard.

Fowler's husband, Robert Fowler, was riding in the CRV and transported to an area hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Occupants of the Sequoia received only minor injuries, refusing treatment at the scene, Rainwater said.

Rainwater said that the driver of the Sequoia is currently under investigation and charges are pending based on a toxicology report and the investigation.

"This incident is under investigation by the (Traffic Specialist Unit) to determine what caused the Sequoia to cross over the center line," Rainwater said. "(The driver) was not showing any signs of intoxication at the scene, but we will be looking at any other factor that may have played a part in the crash."
