Dawson County's only locally based bank on Monday announced the successful completion of a $10 million recapitalization campaign.
"Regulatory approval to break escrow was received on May 3, 2016 and our management team is already employing this capital to grow the bank in a sound and profitable manner," said John Lewis, president and CEO of Foothills Community Bank.
"This is really a milestone for the bank. We are grateful for the strong show of support from investors and the community."
The bank now meets all regulatory thresholds for a safe and sound bank, according to Lewis.
"The future is very bright to turn this into a prosperous organization," he said.
Brought aboard last summer, Lewis was charged with identifying the capital needed to reinvigorate the bank and move forward.
"Now, as I call it, we can play offense, move forward very aggressively and develop a new business that's growing, and that will apply not only here in Dawsonville, but also at our Cumming location as well," he said. "We are eager to demonstrate our appreciation to our shareholders, clients and community by growing a strong and healthy bank.
"We promise to work hard every day to deliver on that commitment."
Customers should expect to see a few changes as the plan progresses.
"The [staff] that are here currently will continue to be with us, and we'll just add to that. A lot of high performing bankers will come in here and will enhance our product set over time and customers will see some added benefit from that standpoint," Lewis said.
Based in Dawsonville, Foothills Community Bank is billed as a true community bank with bankers who live and participate in the communities the bank serves.
The bank's main branch is at 70 Carlisle Road in Dawsonville.
The Cumming branch is at 5835 Bethelview Road.
