Dawson County under winter weather advisory
Light accumulation possible after 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service early Thursday issued a winter weather advisory effective through Friday morning for Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin and White counties. Icy roads will be possible in the area, as well as accumulating snow at elevations of 1,500 feet and above. Accumulations are expected to be 1" or less.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the upper teens by early Friday.

A wind advisory has also been issued from 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon through 4 a.m. Friday morning as gusts of up to 35 mph are expected.

Rain is expected for most of today with temperatures falling drastically after lunch today.
