The threat of snow, sleet or freezing rain that is forecast to fall Wednesday in parts of North Georgia convinced school officials to call off classes in Dawson County.

While students and faculty will not be in session, officials said 12 month employees should report if conditions permit.

A hazardous weather outlook calls for wintry precipitation Wednesday and Wednesday night north of a line from Summerville to Dawsonville to Helen, according to the National Weather Service.

Wintry precipitation is possible again Friday and Friday night, with northern and north central Georgia having the best chance for accumulation.
