Dawson County News nominated for GSBA Beacon Award

The Dawson County News has been nominated by the Dawson County Board of Education to be considered for the Beacon Award presented by the Georgia School Boards Association for journalism excellence. “This board has enthusiastically recommended that we nominate Dawson News for the work that they do in informing our citizens about the work that we do,” said Superintendent Damon Gibbs during the board’s Sept. 4 work session. The Beacon Award recognizes print and electronic media representatives or organizations whose coverage over time has created understanding of public education issues by informing the general public about programs, policies and issues affecting public schools, students and the community according to the GSBA website. Up to five awards will be presented in the categories of print and electronic.
