Dawson County Firefighters will play the part of Easter Bunny this weekend and deliver Easter eggs to neighborhoods throughout the county, officials announced this week.

On Saturday, April 11, firefighters will deliver Easter egg bags to over a dozen local neighborhoods, so that Dawson County children can celebrate the Easter holiday despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

The following neighborhoods will be visited on Saturday:

  • 10 a.m. - Rainhall, Mansie Park, Biscayne, Deer Run, Bethany Trace.
  • 11 a.m. - Redhawk, Oakmont, Highland Point, Amicalola Chase, Dawson Junction.
  • Noon - Dawson Forest Apartments, Oak Forest, Blacksmill Preserve

Families that do not live in the listed neighborhoods can participate in the Easter Egg Toss by visiting Fausett Farms (11336 Highway 136 W) or Fire Station 1 (393 Memory Lane) between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday.

During the event, Firefighters will make deliveries in protective gear and toss Easter egg bags to the waiting families, so that no physical contact occurs.

"All participants must follow social distancing requirements and gatherings of non-household members are prohibited," the release states.

Participants who visit Fausett Farms or Fire Station 1 must remain in their vehicles.
