Dawson County Emergency Services is recruiting volunteers to be part of Dawson First, a community emergency response team, or CERT, that is designed to help train and equip citizens to provide support in the event of a disaster, crisis or common emergency.

These citizens will learn how to aid Dawson County Emergency Services and the community through safety outreach programs and preparedness training.

The first participant orientation is open to everyone, and sign up is not required.

The orientation will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at fire station No. 7, located at 170 Dawson Forest Road W.

Participants will be able to meet team leaders, ask questions and learn more about this great volunteer program.
