A Gainesville man has died from injuries sustained in a head on collision Saturday night west of Dawsonville. Dawson County Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Tony Wooten said 58-year-old Joseph Helig was attempting to pass two vehicles on a double yellow line when his Kia Rio collided with an oncoming Honda CRV. The wreck on Hwy. 53, near Will Hall Road, occurred just before 8:30 p.m. "Both drivers were transported to area hospitals," Wooten said. "We were notified by the hospital that he passed away."
