A routine traffic stop in downtown Dawsonville early Saturday led to the arrests of four people on felony drug charges, authorities said.

According to the Dawson County Sheriff's Office, those arrested include: Stephanie Adkins, 40, of Gainesville; Joseph Cansler, 42, of Sweetwater, Tenn.; and Crystal Tyner, 28, and Samuel Smallwood, 39, both of Madisonville, Tenn.

Each suspect has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects and possession of controlled substances.

As of Tuesday afternoon, all four were being held without bond at the Dawson County Detention Center pending hearings in Superior Court, according to jail records.

Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten said the incident began about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 18 when Deputy Jeff Moore pulled over a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier for a tail light violation.

A search of the vehicle turned up about an ounce and a half of suspected methamphetamine, as well as prescription pills and hypodermic needles, he said.

Also found were a firearm and more than $3,000 in cash, which Wooten said will "go through the court system to be seized."

In a separate and unrelated case, deputies also arrested five people Saturday night after executing a search warrant at a home in downtown Dawsonville.

According to sheriff's reports, 44-year-old Marla Dees Meyer and Joshua James Soule, 25, both of Dawsonville, were charged with possession of marijuana and furnishing alcohol to underage individuals.

Meyer's son, 19-year-old Dave Anthony Meyer, was charged with possession of marijuana, as well as having a drug-related object.

Two other people, 25-year-old Johnathan Kaste, of Gainesville and Daniel Brandon Scroggins, 19, of Dawsonville were also arrested in the case.

Kaste was booked on a single possession of controlled substance charge, while Scroggins was charged with possession of alcohol while underage.

All were released from custody after posting bonds.

Deputies also made a pair of underage alcohol arrests Friday night following a traffic stop.

Corey James Katrones, 20, of Cumming and Timothy Mitchell Thorn, 18, of Dawsonville were charged with underage alcohol possession.

Thorn was also charged with underage DUI and failure to comply with a tag light requirement.

Both were released on bond.
