Council members voted Monday night to release the names of the final three candidates for the open city manager position.

Mayor James Grogan said that the council has narrowed down the applicants to Bob Bolz, Anthony C. Dill and Richard Stancil.

Bolz, 59, is currently employed at the Dawson County Sheriff's Office as a lieutenant, training director and director of the office of professional standards. He has been employed there since July 2010.

Before that he worked for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources from May 1979.

Bolz received a bachelor's degree in recreational administration from North Georgia College and State University in 1978, and did post baccalaureate studies there in a master's program for biology education from 1978 to 1979, according to his resume.

Bolz lives in Dawsonville and is married to Robinson Elementary Parapro Xarissa Bolz. He has three sons: Robert Bolz, Josh Bolz and Cody McGinnis.

Dill, 50, is currently employed at the Georgia National Guard as state inspector general for Georgia. He has been employed there since May 2015.

According to his resume, before that he worked at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School in Fort Bragg, N.C. from July 2013. He also worked in the NATO International Security Assistance Force in Kabul, Afghanistan as director at the Village Stability National Coordination Center in 2012.

Dill has a bachelor of arts degree in humanities and communication arts from the University of West Florida, a master of arts in military studies and joint warfare from the American Military University in Charles Town, W. Va., and a master of strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pa.

Dill also lives in Dawsonville.

Stancil's resume says that he is currently employed as city manager in Hiawassee.

He has been employed there since 2007. He is also an attorney in his own private practice.

His age is unknown.
His resume says that he worked as city attorney from 1997 to 2009, and prior to that worked as a lawyer and for the office of the governor in Atlanta. He has a law degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.

Stancil lives in Hiawassee.

Grogan said the applicants will be interviewed in executive session on Friday afternoon beginning at 4 p.m.

According to Grogan, they will be interviewed in 25 minute increments.

The council could come out of executive session and announce the sole candidate for manager following the interviews, Grogan said.

A final decision on hiring for the position cannot be made until 14 days after the release of the candidates' resumes.

The position became open in September after then-City Manager David Headley accepted a position as Dawson county manager.

Headley had worked as city manager since December 2015, when the position was activated to assist the mayor with administrative duties.
