Collision shuts down Hwy. 53 at county line
Two injured in crash taken to area hospital

Hwy. 53 East was shut down in both directions at the Dawson-Forsyth County line Wednesday morning as officers investigated a two-car crash that occured just before 8 a.m.

Emergency crews from both counties were on the scene of the collision near The Church at Warhill.

Dawson County Sheriff Billy Carlisle said two individuals injured in the crash were taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area while officers investigate and clear the scene.

Detours were set up at Anderson Lake to Jot Em Down roads for those traveling west on Hwy. 53 from Forsyth County and at Blue Ridge Overlook for drivers headed east toward Gainesville.

The First Baptist Church of Dawsonville hosted its Vacation Bible School kick-off event on Sunday, June 5, complete with inflatables, a petting zoo, bluegrass music and a stunt show featuring a motorcycle and BMX bikes.
