Clothing drive to benefit Haitian earthquake victims

A local group would like you to start spring cleaning early this year and donate your spring and summer clothing to the earthquake victims in Haiti.

Sherry Chadwick said it broke her heart to see the death and devastation as she watched the television coverage after the January earthquake.

Seeing the children left with only the clothes on their backs and the tears in their eyes was all it took for her to stand up and try to help.

A clothing drive will be held this Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church in Dawsonville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The drive will also be held March 10, April 3 and 10 at the same times.

The group is accepting used clothing for children ages 0-3 months all the way up to teens and junior sizes.

“We will only keep light weight clothing for Haiti and all winter clothing will be packed separately and taken to The Place or Abba House,” Chadwick said.

Volunteers are also needed each day to fold, separate and pack donations.

Antioch Baptist Church is located at 502 Antioch Church Road, off Hwy. 52, in Dawsonville.
