On Friday morning, local officials announced that all services and programs facilitated through the Dawson County Parks and Recreation, and Senior Services and Transit departments would be temporarily suspended until further notice due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to a press release, these closures include all non-essential services from both departments, but will not affect the Meals on Wheels program

Effective Monday, March 16, gyms and exercise rooms at Rock Creek Park and Veterans Memorial Park will be closed until March 30, 2020. Similarly, recreation volleyball, baseball, softball, tee-ball, instructional league, soccer, track and field, lacrosse and all adult activities will be suspended for that same period.

The release said that all county parks will maintain regular hours during the closure and outside facilities will remain open.

"The health and wellness of our clients is our highest priority. We will continue to update you as we are notified by federal, state and local officials. As of today, March 13, 2020, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Dawson County," the release said.
