A church located near the border of Dawson and Forsyth counties has partnered with an existing program that could make groceries affordable to nearby families in need.

The Church @ War Hill is expanding its food ministry outreach program by opening a Grocery Garage Sale at the intersection of Hwy. 53 East and War Hill Park Road.

The Grocery Garage Sale is a business that started about two years ago in Forsyth County, where a team of coupon-clipping women made it their mission to save people money.

Church @ War Hill Pastor Don Allen said partnering with the Grocery Garage Sale will help assist thousands of people in “all different income brackets who are feeling the effects of the economy.”

The Grocery Garage Sale provides name brand food at 60-80 percent off retailer prices.

Said Allen: “Our motto is: ‘What you save can save a life,’ and the best part is the profit will go into purchasing food for families in the community who are in crisis.”

Store hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The store is located in the old Fire Station No. 2 building.
