Celebrating its 11th season, the Dawson Community Chorale will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. May 9.

Premiering at Dawson County Middle School, “Broadway Tonight!” will feature medley’s from “West Side Story,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Les Miserables,” “Oklahoma” and “Oliver.”

The audience will recognize, and possibly sing along with many songs such as “Maria,” “Oh what a beautiful morning,” “Oklahoma” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”

Many other, not quite so familiar, songs will be enjoyed during the lively and entertaining concert.

A reception will be held immediately following the concert in the Bowen Center for the Arts.

Joe Chapman, director of keyboard studies and coordinator of music at North Georgia College & State University, leads the chorale, a group of about 40 singers from various Dawson County church choirs.

Kathy Duren, also a member of the university’s music faculty, accompanies the chorale.

Concert ticket prices are $10 for general admission, $8 for students and arts council members. Children 10 and under are free.

Tickets may be purchased from chorale members, or by calling the Bowen Center for the Arts at (706) 216-2787.
