Chamber hires marketing and events director
I-Simpson joins chamber staff mug

The Dawson County Chamber of Commerce recently added to its staff of three with new hire Davida Simpson as marketing and events director.

Simpson was most recently employed with the Dawson County Government as purchasing director.

According to Christie Haynes, chamber president, Simpson will serve as the point person for coordinating major chamber events including the annual gala, golf tournament, Business After Hours and business luncheons.

She will also work extensively in the Office of Tourism Development (OTD) by managing the OTD's social media, newsletter and other marketing aspects to promote Dawson County as a destination hotspot.

"We are thrilled to have Davida join our chamber family," Haynes said. "The marketing and events director position was created to better serve our chamber members and tourism partners. Davida's unmistakable enthusiasm for serving and bettering our community makes her the perfect fit for our team and this new position."

Haynes said that Simpson's knowledge of the community and top-notch organizational skills make her an incredible asset to the chamber's membership and events.

"Along with Director of Operations Brenda Mason and Membership Director Melissa Mayton, our staff has never been more motivated to fulfill our mission statement of cultivating a successful economic environment and a desirable quality of life for our businesses and community," Haynes said.

According to a chamber press release, Simpson has served a variety of roles for Dawson County including positions in the court systems and county clerk.

She is a 2001 graduate of North Georgia College with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Simpson said she is excited about the new opportunity.

"This new role provides an opportunity for me to broaden my horizons within an organization whose mission aligns with my personal passion for serving our community," Simpson said. "I am looking forward to better getting to know our members and executing quality events that will maximize the community's investment in the Chamber."

She is married to Jarrett Simpson and is the mother of two daughters, Cora and Anna. She also serves as secretary of the United Way of Dawson County.
