A Woodstock man faces DUI and reckless driving charges stemming from a nine-car wreck that sent his Chevrolet Express cargo van truck into a Moe’s Southwest Grill in Dahlonega and injured 12 people Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Georgia State Patrol said the van of Steve Russell Moss, 28, caused “a chain reaction of collisions” before driving into the restaurant at Morrison Moore Parkway/Ga. 9.

State patrol said all the injuries appeared to not be life-threatening. Authorities said eight drivers, one passenger and two people inside the Moe’s were injured, adding that a city of Dahlonega worker was injured when diving out of the way of the vehicles.

The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office said in a Tuesday morning statement on Facebook that Moss was cited for driving under the influence of drugs in the nine-car crash. The sheriff’s office had previously said seven vehicles were involved in the crash.

The initial wreck happened around Alicia Lane and ended with the work truck striking the restaurant, hitting multiple cars in its path, Lumpkin Sheriff’s Office Lt. Alan Roach said Monday.
