Leslie Elliott was having lunch Monday afternoon at Bojangles’ when she heard a really loud noise.

“I thought something had blown up in the kitchen,” said Elliott, a Forsyth County resident.

“A stack of highchairs suddenly flew across the room and landed on the other side of the restaurant. It was crazy.”

Lanier Swafford, chief of Dawson County Emergency Services, said those nearby were fortunate when a Mazda crashed into the side of the downtown Dawsonville eatery.

The vehicle hopped a curb and caved in a section of the outer brick wall.

“Fortunately, there was only minor damage to the store and no injuries,” Swafford said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, no charges had been filed in the incident.

“According to the female driver, she was in the parking space and the vehicle unexpectedly lunged forward,” Swafford said.
