Dawson County’s Lakeview Center will host the second annual Night of the Gladiators mixed martial arts tournament, July 19.

“There will be no less than 10 fights,” said Lakeview Center Events Coordinator Jessica Gaines, who added that last year’s tournament drew more than 500 spectators.

Night of the Gladiators is an amateur mixed martial arts tournament, sponsored by the Lakeview Center and Remnant Productions, that gives area martial artists the chance to build amateur fight records in hopes of breaking into ultimate fighting competition’s international level.

“We’ll have several fighters from around the state and some from Florida,” said Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission Licensed Promoter Chris Barrett. “This is going to be what you see on television, the UFC style fighting in three intense five-minute rounds,” added Barrett.

Barrett said fighters would include several local warriors such as Chad Armstrong, Jason Betsil and Southeastern ISKA MMA Lightweight Champion Rusty Transue fighting in the main event.

Night of the Gladiators will be held at Dawson County’s Lakeview Center, 2057 Dawson Forest Road East, Saturday, July 19 at 6 p.m. Fights will begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $40 for general admission, $50 for first and second row seats and $650 for eight, eye-level VIP section seats, including a private bar and hostess.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Lakeview Center at (706) 216-1022, or can be purchased at the door the night of the event.

Gaines reminds those wishing to attend the event that ticket prices will increase at the door.
