A Canton man faces sex charges after authorities say he sent explicit text message photos of himself to a Dawson County teenager.

Kenneth J. Seabolt, 26, has been held without bond at the Dawson County Detention Center since his arrest last week.

He has been charged with child molestation, obscene telephone contact with a minor and distributing obscene material to a minor.

The investigation has not revealed any physical sexual contact between the man and the 15-year-old girl, authorities said.

But according to Sheriff’s Lt. Ray Goodie, Seabolt faces a child molestation charge in connection with electronically sending pornographic material to the teen.

“A person commits the offense of child molestation when they do immoral or indecent acts in the presence or with a child or by transmitting images with an electronic device of person engaging or otherwise participating in immoral or indecent act involving a child under the age of 16,” Goodie said.

“In this case, the electronic device was his telephone to send the images via text messages.”

Goodie said Seabolt began communicating with the teen a few months ago after they met at a bowling alley.

“At that time, she told him she was older than she really is,” Goodie said. “They talked for a while and then her parents found out and let him know her age.

“They kept talking, and that’s not illegal, but the problem is he sent her sexually explicit text messages of himself.”
