The tenth annual Celebrity Waiter Breakfast is set for this Friday morning at Longhorn Steakhouse on Ga. 400.
The breakfast is a fundraiser benefiting Dawson County Family Connection to help support their work in preventing child abuse and neglect in Dawson County.
“Family Connection promotes a strong, nurturing community and feels this event brings everyone together in a fun way while raising awareness of our mission,” said Family Connection Coordinator Nancy Stites.
This year, many illustrious names in the community have signed up to serve breakfast with a smile. From Senator Steve Gooch and Representative Kevin Tanner to the sheriff, councilmen, commissioners and representatives from Dawson County Schools, Longhorn Steakhouse will be full of familiar faces.
“We appreciate the ‘Celebrity Waiters,’ all notable members of our community infrastructure, all who have a natural drive to serve,” said Stites. “The breakfast gives citizens the opportunity to see them ‘serve’ in a different light; one with coffee-stained aprons, a pile of dirty dishes and extra straws in their pockets. It’s good fun that creates a great sense of community…and we haven’t said anything yet about the delicious food!”
Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Proceeds from the event will go towards recruiting and supporting foster families, offering child sexual abuse prevention training and bringing awareness to the community of the negative consequences substance abuse and addiction has on families and children.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door, in advance by calling (706)265-1981 or emailing Rebecca Bliss at rbliss@dawsonfamilyconnection.org.
