Foothills IGA Market at 70 Foothills Parkway has entered into a non-binding agreement to sell its store to Carolinas-based grocer Lowes Foods, an earlier May press release stated.

The Marble Hill area is located in portions of western Dawson and eastern Pickens counties.

“This potential transaction will provide continued employment for the IGA associates with a great company that has around 15,000 employees,” said store president Jeff Downing. “Further, Lowes Foods operates outstanding grocery stores which will serve the Foothills community in an exemplary manner for many years to come.”

“We’re excited about the possibility of adding another great store location to our company,” Tim Lowe, President of Lowes Foods said. “We will have more news to share soon.  In the meantime, the store will continue to operate as IGA. We can’t wait to share our retail experience with this community.”

Founded in 1954, Lowes Foods employs almost 9,000 people and operates more than 80 full-service supermarkets. Lowes Foods, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of North Carolina-based Alex Lee, Inc, a family-owned and operated company that employs about 15,000 people, the press release said.
