The restaurant hub along Dawson County’s Marketplace Parkway will gain another well-known chain eatery.

This story continues below.

An Outback Steakhouse location is in the works at 3862 Dawson Forest Road East, according to land disturbance documents from the Planning and Development department.

The new Outback will be set on a 1.9-acre tract behind the Olive Garden and across from the planned Whataburger on Wallace Boulevard.

Dawson County’s “Commercial Construction Tracker” map shows the planned location for the Outback spot in relation to the Whataburger property.

Land disturbance plans are only part of the approval process for Outback’s construction. The next step in the process, the restaurant’s building permit, has yet to be stamped, Senior Plans Examiner Scott Morgan said on Feb. 21.

Once building plans are stamped, construction can begin on the Australian-themed eatery. Stamped-and-sealed construction documents show that an architect, engineer or surveyor has reviewed and approved those plans.

Whataburger is still working on revisions for its land disturbance permit, said Development Services Representative Tonya Abernathy.

Currently, the closest Outback Steakhouses to Dawson County are located in Cumming and Gainesville.

DCN will continue to follow these restaurant developments.
