Dawsonville city council

The City of Dawsonville has earned an award for its finance department’s excellence in financial reporting and hard work on its financial report for the fiscal year.

According to a recent press release by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), the city received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2021. The award was given to the city by the GFOA for its excellent work on its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year.

“The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report,” the release said.

This certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, the release added, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
