About 30 years ago, when the Episcopal Church was debating whether or not to put their blessing on gay rights, I had the opportunity to dialogue with a young lesbian who was furious with me for my Biblical views against the lifestyle.

We spent the better part of an afternoon together.

I believed then, and now, that to deny her the clear teaching of scripture was to do a great disservice.

What began with her angry outburst resulted in her asking if she could give me a hug as we shed some tears together.

She thanked me for telling her the truth and I pray she checked me out with her own study of the scriptures.

The Supreme Court can hand down decisions, but ultimately they cannot overrule God's definition of marriage.

Truth never changes because God never changes.
