Next week the new Republican Congress will act to repeal the Affordable Care Act or “ObamaCare” as the Republicans and their pundits call it.

They claim that health care reform will add to the deficit. Of course, the Congressional Budget Office says it will decrease the deficit. 

What does one Republican say to that? Oh, those folks in the CBO are nice folks but their data is wrong; it will add to the deficit. They say it will cause us to lose more jobs when in actuality it has provisions to make it more affordable to be trained in the medical field, thus creating more jobs in the future. I guess the data is correct when it suits the right and not correct when it doesn’t suit them.

What will repeal mean to Americans?

Children who are now covered under their parent’s health insurance who previously were not because of pre-existing conditions would no longer be covered.

Young people who are now covered until age 26 under their parents policies would lose their coverage.

Seniors would lose their coverage for fully paid yearly exams and tests.

The list goes on and on. Go to healthreform.kff.org/timeline.aspx for a list of all the things already covered that Americans would lose.

Why do the Republicans twist the facts about the cost of these health care reforms and act to take away health care that is now available to millions of previously uninsured Americans?

The only thing I can think of is that they are fully controlled by the money and the lobbies of the Health Insurance Industry. How about working for the American people. That is what you were elected to do.
