Up-and-coming Lady Tiger basketball stars spent last week honing their skills at Rock Creek Park during the annual Fun-damentals Basketball Camp.

The camp is designed for girls ages 7-14 who want to strengthen their basketball skill set.

There were 21 girls participating.

Coach Tina Brown, along with coaches Jonathan Tinsley and Nichole Green, spent Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until noon focusing the young campers on the essentials.

Brown is the physical education department head at Dawson County Junior High School and has extensive coaching experience in basketball.

Tinsley and Green are the coaches for the eighth grade teams also at DCJHS.

"My favorite part is getting to work with all ages," Brown said. "I have helped with this camp for over 20 years."

On Friday the girls competed in a number of competitions to wrap up the week.

Awards were given for the following events: Baylee Green and Cydney Cunningham in the Hot Shot competition; Elisabeth Frix and Maggie Dowdy for freethrows; Green and Rylie Erickson for the One-on-One competition; and Best Campers were Charlee Bishop and Heather Burt.

"We stress fundamentals above all else," Brown said.
