The Dawson County Lady Tigers' volleyball team hosted their final home tri-match of the season last week when they played region rivals Greater Atlanta Christian and Fannin County.
Dawson lost both matches in two sets each and celebrated the first senior night for the program on Sept. 27.
In the early match with the Spartans, who came in 3-1 in region play, Dawson County was able to generate some offense in the first set. They lost 25-13, 25-7.
GAC's Cienna Townson served a series of aces and the Lady Tigers struggled to pass effectively.
Roxie Fricton had three kills, Kaylee Sticker had two kills and both Marlie Townley and Lydia Watson had one kill-all in the first set.
Townley picked up a second kill in the second set and Chloe Bennett added two in the second set.
Townson's serving again caused trouble for the Lady Tigers as they struggled to hold the serve.
Following the first match, seniors Emma French and Lydia Watson were honored at mid-court along with seniors from both GAC and Fannin.
During the second match with the Fannin County Rebels, the Lady Tigers struggled early but came back strong in set two. The final scores were 25-9, 25-20.
Fricton had three kills in the first set, two coming off of dinks. Bennett also added two.
The Lady Rebels were 29-2 entering Tuesday night's matches and were able to get 10 aces in the first set against Dawson County.
The Lady Tigers were able to pass more effectively in the final set of the night, allowing the offense to go on a couple of runs. The first was behind the serving of Fricton and saw a big block and kill both from Sticker.
Townley had her own series of three kills off of effective passing from French and setting by Brittany Sayler.
Fricton and Sticker both came up with late aces but it was not enough.
The team moves to 3-27 after Thursday overall and 1-3 in region play. They played at North Hall yesterday, but results were not available as of press time.
Dawson County will finish up its inaugural volleyball season in the area tournament this weekend at North Hall High School.
