The Dawsonville Racer swim team opened the season with a meet at Hunter’s Chase last Saturday.

Coach Stephanie Morgan said she is proud of the team’s effort and accomplishments.

“Our team literally got their feet wet in their first meet of the season on Saturday. Everyone swam hard and brought home ribbons for their reward,” she said.

All swimmers that participated in the event went home with a ribbon.

Swimmers on the team range from 3-years-old to 16.

“We want to expose swimmers to the competition experience and help them achieve their personal goals for the summer,” Morgan said.

Veteran swimmer Lauren Dare, who recently competed in the North Georgia Swim League Pentathlon, serves as the team’s training coach.

“Some swimmers want to compete on the state level in July and others want to swim a race without stopping,” she said. “We do swim training practice with progressive lanes to accommodate all the different levels of stroke abilities and correct issues before each swimmer moves to the next lane.”
