Spring brings host of 5K races to area

Laces up: It’s almost spring, and that means it’s time for a flood of 5Ks and other runs in the north Georgia area.

There are plenty of options over the next few months. There’s something for everyone, and practically all of the events benefit worthy causes.

 

Shamrock Shuffle 5K and Fun Run

What: Run benefiting Hall County Schools work-based learning programs

When: 7:45 to 11 a.m. March 16

Where: Laurel Park, 3100 Old Cleveland Highway, Gainesville

How much: $30 per person for 5K, $15 for fun run

 

Mountain Madness Trail Run

What: 15K organized by the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce

When: 8 to 11:30 a.m. March 23

Where: Fausett Farms, 11336 Hwy. 136 W., Dawsonville

How much: $45

 

King’s Hawaiian 5K and Fun Run

What: Run benefiting Lanier Tech Foundation scholarships

When: 8:30 a.m. March 23

Where: Lanier Technical College, 2535 Lanier Tech Drive, Gainesville

How much: $25 per person

 

Bolt for Jamaica 5K

What: Run benefiting students who will be traveling to Jamaica with American-Caribbean Experience

When: 7 to 10 a.m. March 23

Where: Oakwood Parks and Recreation, 4103 Main St., Oakwood

How much: $35 per person for 5K, $40 on day of the event; $15 per person for fun run, $20 on day of event

 

Chamber Chase 5K

What: 5K organized by the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce

When: 5 p.m. March 28

Where: Riverside Military Academy, 2001 Riverside Drive, Gainesville

How much: $30 per person through March 14, $35 March 15-28

 

Grape Stomp 5K/10K Trail Run

What: Run benefiting the Dahlonega Trail Fest

When: 7:30 a.m. to noon March 30

Where: Montaluce Winery and Restaurant, 946 Via Montaluce, Dahlonega

How much: $30 per person for 5K, $35 for 10K

 

Christ Place 5K

What: Run supporting local organizations that work to prevent child abuse

When: 7 to 11 a.m. April 20

Where: Christ Place Church, 3428 Atlanta Highway, Flowery Branch

How much: $30 per person through March 31, $35 April 1-19, $40 on day of the event

 

2019 Trillium Trek Trail Run & Walk

What: Run benefiting Elachee’s nature education and conservation activities

When: 7 a.m. April 13

Where: Elachee Nature Science Center, 2125 Elachee Drive, Gainesville

How much: $60 per person for half marathon, $30 for 5K, $20 for fun run

 

Pups in the Park 5K

What: Run benefiting the Dawson County Humane Society

When: 8 a.m. April 13

Where: Rock Creek Park, 445 Martin Road, Dawsonville

How much: $25 per person through March 31, $27 April 1-12, $30 on day of the event for 5K; $20 for fun run

 

Rock 'N Run Glow Trot 5K and Fun Run

What: Run benefiting American Cancer Society Relay for Life Hall County

When: 7 p.m. May 3

Where: University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus, 3820 Mundy Mill Road, Oakwood

How much: $25 per person, $30 on day of the event
