Racers make a splash in recent meets
Team to compete in Clarksville July 12

The Dawsonville Racers swim team, under the direction of Stephanie Morgan and assistant coach Moriah Spicer, continue to make improvements with each meet.

The team entered in two events recently and were rewarded with many ribbons for its success.

The Racers had a dual meet with Cornerstone Swim Team June 19.

Several first place ribbons were awarded to Dawsonville swimmers. Earning first place were: Brittany Adams (freestyle), Taylor Barrett (IM, freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly), Kaylee Barrett (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly), Lindsay O'Saben (freestyle), Sky Perry (breaststroke), Michael Putlak (breaststroke), Tiffany Seay (IM, backstroke and breaststroke) and Jackson Morgan (butterfly).

Runner-up ribbons were given to Hayley Adams (backstroke), Brandi Butler (butterfly), Andy Castleberry (breaststroke), Rebecca Ellis (freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke), Sarah Beth O'Saben (freestyle and backstroke), and Jeff Putlak (breaststroke and butterfly).

Morgan and her swimmers also participated in a meet June 28. The team posted several great times which include: Sarah Beth O'Saben (33:87) backstroke, Kaylee Barrett (27:62) freestyle, Lindsay O'Saben (26:25) freestyle, Tyler Perry (37:19) breaststroke, Rebecca Ellis (24:68) backstroke, Taylor Barrett (18:13) backstroke, Isabelle Martinez (21:87) freestyle, Brandi Butler (28:88) backstroke, Sarah Rogers (48:41) breaststroke, Hayley Adams (35:09) freestyle, Skye Perry (38:37) freestyle and Brittany Adams (42:69) butterfly.

Dawsonville sports a wide variety of age groups from 5-year-old Sarah Beth O'Saben to 14-year-olds Brittany Adams, Hayley Adams and Tiffany Seay.

"Our team continues to improve," Morgan said. "We get better every meet. They are working two hours a day, three days a week to try and get better."

The team will travel to Clarksville for the district meet on July 12. The meet will be held at the Ruby C. Fulbright Aquatic Center.

The Racers will also participate in two more meets before the end of July.

On July 19 the team will swim at Hunter's Chase in Cumming and on  July 26 the team will host a meet at Dawson County Veterans Memorial Park Pool.
