Post 247 falls to Buford

American Legion Post 247 dropped its first game of the season to a hard hitting Buford team last Saturday by a score of 16-9.

Coach Casey Wilson was missing several players due to vacation. Missing the players, along with the team committing eight errors, led to the downfall of the team, according to Wilson.

Buford was strong on both defense and offense. The team has several players committed to college's beginning next season, including left-handed pitcher Benji Cash. Cash stands 6'5" and throws in the low 90 mile-per-hour range. He will attend Middle Tennessee State next season.

The visiting Buford team got off to a quick start and never let up against Post 247.

For Dawsonville, Quentin Sears and Marlin Hensley had a good day at the plate. The duo recorded three hits each.

"When we get everyone together we are pretty good," Wilson said. "Today Buford made less mistakes and they took advantage of them. Buford is a well-disciplined club."

Post 247 will be back in action on June 18 with a home game against Loganville.
