Softball teams finish season

Four teams from Dawson County played in the Dizzy Dean All-Star softball District 6 tournament June 16-18. The tournaments were played at various locations, based on age.

The 9-10 girls softball team, coached by Natosha Beary, finished in third place in Jefferson.

Members of this year's team were: Alexis Bagley, Kati Brady, Ashton Bryant, Gabby Buchan, Alexa Colon, Amelia Cranford, Sydney Estes, Micaiah Jenkins, Maggie Schandera, Kaylee Sticker, Karley Thurmond and Hannah Tinsley.

Dawson's 7-8 year old softball team played in Jackson County.

The head coach of this year's team was Jacob Tinsley.

The team included: Brea Crane, Kyleigh Fortenberry, Samantha Jennings, Emily Jordan, Olivia Martinez, Kaitlyn McDowell, Madison Poppham, Shyla Sheffield, Cheyenne Temples, Isabella Tinsley and Sadie Wilkie.

The 11-12 year old softball team played its tournament in Union County.

The team was led by head coach James Day, and the team played very tough.

This year's team members were: Michaela Brauda, Camilla Burt, Caroline Collett, Heidi Collett, Taylor Day, Ashley Densmore, Marissa Flowers, Natalie Gee, Natalie Glass, Brandi Jo Hafermalz and Lacy Mills.

The 13-14 year old girls' softball team finished its season after being knocked out of the double elimination tournament held at Veterans Memorial Park in Dawsonville.

The head coach of this year's team was Andrew Lovingood.

Members of this year's team were: Heather Brady, Emma Daniel, Jessica Lovingood, Hannah McConnell, Sydney McGinnis, Brandy NeSmith, Taylor Snelgrove, Katelynn Simpson, Jordan Tompkins, Brandy Torres, Brooke Wende and Hannah Yother.

"We are so proud of all our teams that competed in the All-Star tournaments," said Kristi Creegan, athletic director of Dawson County Parks and Recreation.
