Four members of the Dawsonville Racer swim team competed in the State Park and Recreation championships July 23-24 in Tifton.

Swimming in the meet were Kaylee Barrett, 7-8 year old division, Eve Perkins and Brooke Dare, 13-14 year olds, and Lauren Dare in the 15-18 year old group.

Barrett picked up a ribbon for finishing seventh in the butterfly. She also came in 11th in the backstroke.

Perkins touched the wall in the 14th place in the tough individual medley. Brooke Dare picked up a 10th place finish in the backstroke and Lauren Dare finished in ninth in the freestyle race and 12th in the backstroke.

“They worked hard through intense training this summer and finished the season great,” said Head Coach Stephanie Morgan. “To make it to the state meet and place is a huge accomplishment for these swimmers. As all the swimmers of the Dawsonville Racers continue to train at practice we look to have even more swimmers competing in the state meet next year.”

Assistant coaches Lyndsey Brown and Sarah Dare coached the swimmers while they were in Tifton.

“I would like to say thank you to Lyndsey and Sarah for doing such a great job,” Morgan said.
