Racers boys team finishes eighth

Coach Stephanie Morgan's boys swim team competed at the North Georgia Swim League Splash meet June 15 at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center in Clarksville.

The Racers finished in eighth place as a team with 215 points. Winning the event were the Jefferson Swim Dragons with 1,273 points and finishing second were the Brad Akins YMCA Barracudas with a total of 1,023.

Dawsonville had several swimmers place in the top 10 at the event.

In the eight and under category, Racer Thomas Cameron picked up a sixth place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, seventh in the 25-yard freestyle, seventh in the 25-yard breaststroke and ninth in the 25-yard backstroke.

Elliot Kinsey had a strong showing in the six and under age group.

Kinsey placed third in the 25-yard breestyle and 25-yard backstroke.

In the 10 and under swim group, Luke Mulberry, placed fourth in the 25-yard freestyle, ninth in the 25-yard breaststroke, fifth in the 25-yard backstroke and 10th in the 25-yard butterfly.

Also in the 10-under competition, Tyler Howell, and some fine races.

Howell touched the side of the pool with an eight place in the 25-yard freestyle, 10th in the 25-yard breaststroke, 13th in the 25-yard backstroke, and sixth in the 25-yard butterfly.

Matthew Wood, 12-under, also had some outstanding events coming in fourth for the 100-yard IM and 50-yard backstroke. Wood took sixth place in the 100-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle.

Other Racers competing were Carter Redd and Avery Hout.

Redd competed in the 25-yard freestyle and 25-yard backstroke for the 8-unders.

Hout entered the pool and raced in the 10-under 25-yard freestyle and 25-yard backstroke.
