The Spring 2022 sports registration process for Dawson County Parks and Recreation is ongoing, and there are several important updates of note.

While online registration has been open since the beginning of January, walk-in registration will be available at the Rock Creek Sports Complex on 445 Martin Rd. beginning Monday, Jan. 31, through Monday, Feb.7. Sign-up times will be on the weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for the final day of registration on Feb. 7, which will be extended to 8 p.m.

The final day for both online and walk-in registration for spring sports is Monday, Feb. 7.

Currently, the spring sports offered are baseball, softball, track and field, volleyball, and two tiers of t-ball. There is a $40 difference in fees between Dawson County residents and nonresidents.

After the registration period closes, teams will be drafted and formed on Feb. 19 and practice begins on Feb. 28.

Also announced recently were rate changes to sports and usage fees, effective at the beginning of the year. Although the majority of fees have been increased for the 2022 calendar year, certain rates — such as the family season pool pass and access to the large pavilion at Veterans Memorial Park — remain the same as last year.

The DCPR will also be celebrating 50 years in the community as part of the opening day for spring sports on Saturday, March 19. In addition to hosting a variety of vendors and activities, the DCPR will also have a special opening ceremony with former park directors present and a commemorative first pitch.
