Dawson County Parks and Recreation has named a new athletic coordinator.

Joey Carder replaces former director Zak Moore who resigned last month.

Carder is no stranger to Dawson County Parks and Recreation, having previously worked with the park system for four years as a program assistant, athletic assistant and pool operator before accepting a position with Lumpkin County Parks and Recreation.

"Joey Carder will be a true asset to Dawson County Parks and Recreation," said Director Lisa Henson. "His previous experience with us will allow for a smooth transition and provide a familiar face to our customers."

Carder is a graduate of North Georgia College & State University, where he earned a degree in marketing.

His first day will be June 16.
