The 8-year-old baseball team, NorX Tigers, based out of Rock Creek Park, took first runner up in The AllState All-American Wood Bat Classic over Memorial Day weekend.

The tournament was held in Atlanta.

The team played Friday, Saturday and Sunday in order to earn a spot in the championship game on Monday.

The team fell just short in the championship game, falling to a traveling team based out of Pike County.

The NorX Tigers were sponsored by Doug Glaze of NorX Inc. The team was made up mostly of the 2009 8-year-old All-Star team for Dawson County.

The tournament proved to be great practice for the upcoming All Star tournament.

Participants of the team were: Reed Glaze, Tyler Rice, Trey Pruitt, Justin Butler, Chaz Jennings, Cole Loy, Logan Brumbelow, Justin Browning, Bubba Jones and Jason Browning.

The team is coached by Danny Pruitt and Jason Glaze.

Jeremy Browning is the assistant coach.
