Dawson County Park and Recreation recently announced that registration for fall football will be held May 10 - June 21 online.

Walk-in registrations will be accepted Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 10 - 17.

Games will begin in mid-August. Practice in full pads will begin on July 26.

Fee for playing football next fall will be $158.50 per participant, add $20 for all non-Dawson County residents.

The fee will include jersey, pants, complete pad set, shoulder pads and helmet. Recreation insurance will be required to play and will be included in participant fee with completion of appropriate paperwork.

A conditioning camp will be held, helmets only, on the following dates: July 19, 20 and 22.

The conditioning camp is important because evaluation of each player will take place during these three days. If there are a significant number of players, two or more teams may be formed.

Every football participant must also have a current physical. You can download a free sports physical voucher on the Parks and Recreation Web site.

An appointment must be set up with Dawson Pediatrics on June 20. You must present your printed voucher at your appointment.

An age control date is in effect for the football league. The control date is Aug. 1 and no participant can play up or down according to the North Georgia Youth Football Association.
