The Dawsonville Racers boy's swim team participated in the Georgia Recreation and Park Association meet held July 6 at Lanier Aquatics in Gainesville.

Aidan Kudlas, in age group 9-10, qualified for the state meet with a first place finish in the 100-yard IM and a second place in the 25-yard breaststroke.

The state meet will be held July 18-20 in Tifton.

Kudlas finished with a time of 1:41.59 in the IM, easily outdistancing his opponent.

"Aidan swam two really great races," head coach Stephanie Morgan said. "I am so proud of him."

There were several other fine performances for the Racers.

Luke Mulberry touched the wall with a fourth place in the 25-yard fly, ages 9-10, and a sixth place in the 25-yard freestyle.

Also in the 9-10 age group, Racer Tyler Howell finished in fifth place in the 25-yard freestyle and sixth place in the 50-yard freestyle.

Thomas Cameron, 7-8 age group, picked up a sixth place while competing in the 25-yard freestyle and 25-yard backstroke.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Matthew Wood finished in sixth place and also placed fifth in the 100-yard IM.

Racing in the 13-14 age group was Keylan Steffins. He finished with an eighth place in the 50-yard freestyle and a ninth place in the 50-yard breaststroke.

The team as a whole finished in seventh place with 45 points. Winning the district championship was Oconee County Park and Recreation with 472 points.

District runners-up were the Brad Akins YMCA Barricudas with 322 points.
