NASCAR tweeted on Friday morning that all races at Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend have been postponed, due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

In the same tweet, the racing league announced that races next weekend at the Homestead-Miami Speedway would also be postponed until a later date.

Dawsonville native Chase Elliott was scheduled to race in the Gander Outdoor RV & Truck race on Saturday, Mar. 14, after responding to a tweet from Kevin Harvick offering any racer $100,000 to beat fellow driver Kyle Busch.

This news of NASCAR cancellations comes after announcements from Major League Soccer, the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League that sports seasons would be suspended until further notice. The National Collegiate Athletic Association also cancelled their popular ‘March Madness’ tournament.

NASCAR has yet to determine a date to reschedule the races at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
