Some familiar Dawsonville faces will get some screen time this August, with the upcoming release of a documentary about the life and rise of local NASCAR Driver Chase Elliott.
CHASE, a documentary created by NASCAR for NBC’s streaming service Peacock, shares Elliott’s story told by the driver himself and his parents, NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott and Cindy Elliott.
Elliott traveled around some of his favorite spots in Dawsonville with NASCAR Legend Dale Earnhardt Jr., who narrates the documentary.
“I enjoyed having Dale down in the North Georgia/Dawsonville area,” Elliott said in an interview with Nascar. “I got to show him a little bit of my day-to-day life and some of the things that I do. We talked a lot about racing and my career, which I really enjoyed. I’m looking forward to everyone having the chance to watch and enjoy it.”
Earnhardt and Elliott stopped by the Elliott properties, Lake Lanier and the Dawsonville Pool Room. In fact, a camera crew was at the Pool Room after Elliott’s Cup Series Championship win, capturing reactions from community members throughout the race’s final stages.
Clips from Elliott’s racing career growing up were also featured in the documentary’s trailer, from races before Elliott was a teenager to his early years in the Cup Series. CHASE is produced by NBC Sports and Nascar Studios.
Elliott has two Cup Series wins and sits in fifth place, with four races left in the 2021 NASCAR season.
