It was a match-up of undefeated teams last week when the Dawson County eighth grade girls' basketball team played host to Clear Creek Middle from Gilmer County.

In the end the Lady Tigers came away with a 46-24 victory.

Head Coach Tina Brown's team moved to 4-0 on the season, while Clear Creek fell to 3-1.

The Lady Tigers took an early 15-8 lead after one quarter.

Dawson continued to pour on the pressure and moved its advantage to 17-points at halftime, 29-12.

Brown's team allowed only 5 points to Clear Creek in the third quarter to extend its lead to 39-17 at the end of three quarters of play.

"Clear Creek is a good team," Brown said. "My girls played really well on both ends of the court. They knew this would be a tough one and they lived up to my expectations. I am very proud of their effort."

The two teams played each other for the Mountain League Championship last season.

"We beat Clear Creek in the championship game last year by 5 points so this was a big win for us," Brown said.

Lady Tigers scorers: Haley Burgess - 14 points, Ansley Costley - 14 points, Karlie Bearden - 9 points, Brittany Griggs - 4 points, Peytan Porter - 4 points and Summer Vaughan - 1 point.

Dawson County played Jasper Middle on Monday. The game was the final one before Christmas break. Results of the game were not available as of press time.
