Tigers improve to 4-4

The Dawson County Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team improved to 4-4 with a huge 59-29 win over Jasper Middle School Jan. 9 in Jasper.

Coach Jonathon Tinsley's team used a big second quarter to open a 30-12 halftime lead.

Led by Coey Watson, who led all scorers with 34 points, the Tigers didn't look back in the second half outscoring the Dragons 29-17 to take the victory.

Also scoring for Dawson County were Jake Moore with 13 points, Nathan Sorrells added six, Joey Flowers with four and Cole Rogers contributed with three points.

The Tigers will host Fannin County at 5:15 p.m. Friday.

Dawson County will finish the season at the Mountain League tournament.

Tournament play will begin Jan. 21 in Fannin County.
