The Dawson County Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team won two games last Thursday and Friday. Neither contest seemed to be in question, as the Lady Tigers defeated Pickens County Middle School, 30-9, and Clear Creek Middle School, 37-8.

“I didn’t know how we would play, since we haven’t played a game since Dec. 18,” said Head Coach Tina Brown.

The Lady Tigers seemed more than ready against Pickens. Dawson did not allow a single point by the Nettes in the first half and took a 19-0 halftime lead.

“It was a relief to get off to such a good start,” said Brown.

Leading the scoring for Dawson was Sheyenne Seabolt with 16 points. Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were Cassidy Lecours with six points, followed by Brooke Wende with four, Megan Brumbelow and Jordan Moore each contributed two points.

Friday night the team traveled to Clear Creek Middle School in Gilmer County.

Both teams seemed ice cold in the first half, as Dawson only managed a 13-8 lead going into the locker room at intermission.

Whatever Brown said to her team at halftime worked, as the Lady Tigers held Clear Creek scoreless in the second half and came away with the 37-8 win.

“We really struggled in the first half,” said Brown. “We seemed to be able to work things out in the locker room at the half.”

Once again, Seabolt led Dawson in scoring with 15 points. Lecours poured in eight points, Wende added six points, Moore tallied four points and Celeste Chism and Anela Melton chipped in two points each.
