The Riverview Middle School seventh grade Lady Eagle basketball team pulled out a 28-21 win over visiting Lumpkin County Saturday.

Riverview is currently 1-0 on the season.

Despite trailing 9-7 after the first quarter, the Lady Eagles rallied for 12 points in the second quarter to build a slim 19-15 halftime advantage.

Head Coach Rhonda Sillesky’s defense clamped down on the Lumpkin offense in the final two quarters.

Sillesky used several half-court and full-court traps that led to only six points by Lumpkin County the entire second half.

The Lady Indians didn’t score a single point in the fourth quarter.

Seven Lady Eagles entered the scoring column.

Tabitha Morrison was the leading scorer with seven points. Following Morrison were Eliza Sillesky, six points; Emily Queen with five points; Ashton Abbott added four points; Heather Brady, three points; Caitlyn Daniel, two points and Savannah Skinner contributed one point.

The team will not play again until after Thanksgiving when it travels to Clear Creek on Nov. 30.
