The Riverview Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team won a big game against Pickens County Middle School last week by a 20-11 score.

Despite the low scoring game, 8-5 at halftime, the Lady Eagles' work ethic prevailed to come away with the nine-point win.

Gabby Buchan led Riverview in scoring with nine points followed by Zoe Grindstaff with four points, Kati Brady added three points, and Ashley Stanfill and Brittany Saylor contributed two points each.

Pulling down rebounds for the Lady Eagles were Buchan and Bre Moody with 12 rebounds each.

Coach Rhonda Sillesky's eighth grade team wasn't as fortunate. The older Lady Eagles fell to a talented Dragonette team by a 51-24 score.

Scoring for Riverview were Isabel Queen and Ava Walker with six points each, MacKenzie Callas and Emma French with five points each and Bethany Gastley contributed two points.

Both teams will play this week in the Mountain League Tournament at Clear Creek Middle School in Ellijay.
